Hi, I’m Mal, I’m interested in learning more abut Buddhism and meditation.
Sorry to say after looking at the previews I have one issue that I must adress which I dont find OK. One seminar leader said that beneath you thought pattern “there is pain” or “you will find pain”. I find that statement NOT OK. What expectations will it give?? It is not ok to state as a certanity what people will experience. There can and will mostly be much more than pain and it might be ok to say that you MIGHT experience pain but not that it is what WILL happen.
Please correct this in future lectures. I have much experience in meditation since 1972 and I think that I have a bit of knowledge about these things.
There was one more a bit similar statement in a preview as well.saying: “If you Think meditation will be a way to build a bubble around yourself and just feel bliss and joy this is not a good approach”. I agree to a point since you Always have to meet yourself and your thoughts and feelings and all things related to this, BUT when you come beneath your thought patterns and just sit there experiencing yourself and your body in a state of just being there is often a calmness and contentment and sometimes also joy and happiness so please dont say this cannot be something to expect as a result and part of meditating. It is fully possible to reach joy, contentment and calmness without being enlightened and it is a very positive and healing place or state to be in.
Sorry to start up like this with criticism, but an open mind should always be open.
Allthebest PO Sylwan Uppsala Sweden
